VISION
Justice that serves people not paperwork
As Justice of the Peace for Dallas County Precinct 4 Place 2 Dareia Jacobs believes the courtroom should be a place of fairness dignity and common sense. Too often residents come before the court at one of the most stressful moments of their lives facing eviction mental health crises or government systems that feel confusing and unforgiving.
Dareia’s vision is simple. A Justice of the Peace who listens carefully applies the law fairly and uses every tool available to keep families housed communities safe and government accountable.
Justice should not be rushed. It should not be dehumanizing. And it should never ignore the real life consequences of its decisions.
PRIORITIES
Fair and Responsible Eviction Proceedings
Housing stability is the foundation of strong communities. While the Justice of the Peace must uphold the law, there is room to ensure fairness and clarity. Dareia will make sure tenants fully understand their rights and options, encourage open communication between landlords and tenants, and support lawful alternatives to eviction whenever possible. Every case will be handled with dignity, recognizing the real impact eviction has on families, seniors, and children. Justice means following the law while making sure no one gets lost in it.
Compassionate Responses to Mental Health Crises
Many people who come to court are dealing with mental health challenges, not criminal intent. A one-size-fits-all approach does not serve justice or public safety. Dareia will approach these cases with care and professionalism, support connections to appropriate mental health resources, collaborate with county partners and service providers, and prioritize understanding and de-escalation over punishment. A court that recognizes mental health realities is a court that works better for everyone.
Accountable and Accessible Government
For many residents, the Justice of the Peace court is their first experience with the justice system. That experience should be clear, respectful, and transparent. Dareia will run a courtroom that is organized, easy to navigate, and understandable. She will treat every person with professionalism, regardless of income or background, and uphold ethical standards and public trust at every level. Local government should work for the people—especially where it matters most.
